FAQ
Common questions before you book.
If something isn't covered here, send us a message and we'll answer before you commit to anything.
What does "1 hour free" actually mean?
It means the first session is 60 minutes at no charge. No card required, no invoice after. You describe your AWS problem, we work through it together on a video call. If you want to continue working with us after that, we agree on scope and the rate is $130/hr — billed after each session. If you don't continue, you owe nothing.
How does billing work?
Hourly, invoiced after delivery. We don't charge upfront and don't require a retainer. Once we've worked together and you have a sense of our output, we can discuss fixed-scope packages for specific deliverables — but that's always your call.
Should I prepare anything before the first call?
Yes, and it matters more than you'd expect. Even with AWS certifications, we can't reliably answer complex architectural questions ad-hoc without seeing the actual environment. The more context you give us upfront — architecture diagrams, cost reports, error messages, your current Terraform state, what you've already tried — the more productive the first hour will be. Use the booking form notes or the contact page to share details in advance.
What access do you need to our AWS account?
For audits and reviews: read-only access via an IAM role with minimum necessary permissions — we'll specify exactly what's needed. For implementation work: we agree on a scoped role per task before starting. We never ask for AdministratorAccess and we never store credentials. For zero-trust setups, we can work with OIDC-based temporary credentials or SSM Session Manager where applicable.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. On request, before any engagement begins and before any access is granted. Send us your NDA template or we can provide a standard one.
What time zone do you work in? Will there be overlap?
We're based in Riga, Latvia (UTC+2 / UTC+3 in summer). We regularly schedule calls across US, EU, and other time zones — typically morning EU time works well for US East Coast, and we can flex earlier for West Coast or later for other regions. We'll find a slot that works.
Are your certifications verifiable?
Yes. All certifications are issued by AWS and independently verifiable on Credly. Ask us for a direct verification link if you'd like to confirm before engaging.
How big is KUBEX?
We're a small, intentionally boutique consultancy. We don't scale headcount by staffing juniors — we stay small to remain focused. Every engagement is handled directly — no handoffs to someone less familiar with your setup. If we're not the right fit for your scope, we'll tell you upfront rather than over-promise.
How long does a typical engagement last?
Depends entirely on the scope. A targeted security audit might take 2–3 sessions. A full Terraform migration for a multi-service environment can take several weeks of part-time work. We scope this during the free first call so you have a clear picture before any money changes hands.
What if my question is too complex to answer in one session?
We'll tell you upfront. If a problem requires us to study your environment before we can give useful guidance, we'll say that clearly rather than improvise. In those cases, we'll agree on what preparation is needed and schedule accordingly. No surprise billing for sessions that ran long because we weren't prepared.
Can I book without sharing details in advance?
Yes — the Calendly form is optional beyond selecting a time. But we genuinely recommend using the notes field to describe your situation. A 5-minute write-up from you can make the difference between a session that diagnoses your problem and one that's spent catching up on context.
Do you work with startups or only larger companies?
Both. Our work spans early-stage startups setting up their first AWS organization to established engineering teams modernizing legacy infrastructure. The problems look different, the tooling is the same. If you have an AWS account and an engineering team, we can probably help.
Do you use AI to make decisions or write code?
We use AI tools to move faster and explore ideas — but nothing ships without verification against official AWS documentation, service quotas, whitepapers, and known limitations. AI is good at drafting; it's not a substitute for understanding why something works. Every recommendation we make is one we can explain and stand behind.
Ready?
The first hour costs nothing.
Book a session, describe your situation in the notes, and we'll be prepared to make the hour count.
